Complex R.O.M.E. 2026

As in the previous year, the 2026 edition focuses on historical processes as complex systems, with contributions from network science, computational methods, and quantitative modeling. We are welcoming both completed and preliminary works, as well as position presentations.

Call for Presentations

We invite researchers from various disciplines to submit abstracts for presentations at Complex R.O.M.E. 2026, with contributions that explore the application of complex systems approaches to the study of historical phenomena.

The abstracts should not necessary be a finished work, but could be a preliminary report of ongoing research, a presentation of a new dataset, or a proposal of a new method or technique for studying historical phenomena, or a position paper.

Both senior and junior researchers are encouraged to submit their work.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Mathematical and computational models of historical phenomena
  • Modelling societies in history
  • Application of network analysis to the study of historical phenomena
  • Cliodynamics
  • Application of computational social science to history
  • Presentation of new systems, techniques, and datasets for studying historical phenomena
  • Utilization of Large Language Models (LLMs) to study and interpret historical phenomena
  • Application of AI to historical studies
  • Other related topics
